Giles tapped his mallet on the desk, silencing the numerous side conversations that were going on before clearing his throat and speaking. "This first official meeting of the committee for a Willow / Spike relationship will now come to order. Our secretary will read the mission statement before we begin take comments from the members."

Wesley stood up and adjusted his glasses. "Whereas it has been determined by general consensus of the assembled members that a Willow / Spike relationship would be generally beneficial, and whereas the need for support and encouragement of the aforementioned relationship is both necessary and favorable, and whereas a forum was deemed appropriate for addressing both concerns and questions, therefore this committee and its members are resolved to dedicate themselves to encouragement of a Willow / Spike relationship."

Giles cleared his throat and looked at Wesley sadly. "Wesley, that was the resolution we passed to form the committee. I asked you to read the mission statement."

Wesley blushed slightly. "Yes, well I was just getting to that. Ehem. This committee has made it our mission to encourage formation of a relationship between Willow Anne Rosenburg and Spike aka William the Bloody. Once that goal is accomplished, the committee will strive to assist these persons in maintaining their relationship by offering support, both emotional and financial, as necessary."

"Thank you, Wesley."

"I don’t know why we’re doing this anyway. I don’t want to be here. Besides, Spike and Willow shouldn’t be together. He should be waiting around for me in case I ever decide that I want to be with him for any reason. After all, I’m the slayer. Everything should and does revolve around me," Buffy whined.

"Let the records show that Buffy is a self-centered nincompoop who has spoken out against the committee and without awaiting appropriate recognition from the chairman. As punishment, all further comments from her are to be ignored for the duration of this meeting." Wesley wrote furiously as Giles spoke.

Xander raised his hand and was acknowledged. "Giles, I make a motion that part of Buffy’s punishment include baking pies for all future meetings. There should be more munchies."

Several voices seconded the motion and it passed easily.

"Our first order of business is to discuss the current whereabouts of both Willow and Spike. It is vital that our concerted efforts not be interrupted before our goal is achieved. Angel, what have you accomplished in that area?"

"I sent Spike to San Diego to scout out some of the demon bars there. He is looking for someone who doesn’t exist. Naturally, he needed someone to chaperone him, so Willow volunteered to go. After all, she’s the only one he can really stand anyway, and I told him it would probably take a couple of days for him to check all the bars in the area. They won’t be back until tomorrow night at the earliest."

"Excellent work, Angel. Next order of business is to discuss the nature of a relationship this committee would endorse. Anya?"

"Well, I personally think the relationship should involve really great sex. Willow has a nice body if she’d ever show it off, and Spike is definitely a hottie."

"Are there differences of opinion? Cordelia?"

"I don’t disagree with Anya, but I think the relationship should be more than just great sex. I think it’s important to have someone close to you who is a good friend as well as a lover." She squeezed Wesley’s knee playfully.

"Anyone else have anything to add?" When no one raised their hands, Giles glanced at his notes. "Next we will have individual opinions expressed on the benefits of a Willow / Spike relationship. For this we will forego the formalities of being recognized and just start with me and go around the room." Everyone nodded their acceptance. "I think that Willow and Spike would make a good couple because she seems to be the only one of us that he can really stand. Moreover, I think if Spike were involved with Willow it would make him more receptive to our petitions for his assistance."

Wesley was next. "I don’t have particular comments of my own except that the people I trust with my life feel that a Willow / Spike relationship would be beneficial for both of them as well as many others of us. I trust the judgement of my friends and this committee." Heads nodded in agreeement.

"Well, first, I just think they’d look really good together," the ex-cheerleader began. "But I also think Willow would be good for Spike. She could help temper his excesses, and I think most demons need a little help in that department. No offense to any of the demons present."

"I just want to see Willow happy, especially after the whole Oz incident," Riley said. "She looked so sad on the street that day, and I’m sure she would have been hit by that car and not even cared if someone hadn’t been there for her. Willow deserves to be happy. Besides, she helped set Buffy and I up together. And even if she is a nincompoop sometimes, I still really like her." Buffy protested, but everyone ignored her.

"Well, aside from the fact that I think the sex between them would be great," Anya said, "I see Spike as the faithful type. And after 1000+ years as a vengeance demon, I can honestly say that faithfulness is a trait that is far too rare to go to waste."

"I pretty much agree with Anya," Xander said. "After the whole thing with Oz taking off, I think that Willow needs someone who will stand by her no matter what. We’ve all seen how dedicated Spike was to Drusilla. I think Willow deserves the same kind of dedication, and I think Spike could give it to her."

Angel was the last to speak. "I have several things to say. First, Willow is the only person I know who could truly accept Spike and love him just the way he is – no strings attached. She has the capacity to forgive him when he screws up, which he probably will; and she’s smart enough to be able to understand how complex Spike is. As for Spike, well I think he deserves the kind of love Willow can give him. And I know that Spike has a much greater capacity for love than most demons, even if he hasn’t had the best outlet for his feelings. Willow deserves to have someone love her and be dedicated to her the way only Spike could. I think that’s about it."

"Well," Giles stated, "I think this first meeting has gone quite well. There is only one other reason I can think of that we all agreed on but which no one has mentioned so far."

"Because Tara is so damned creepy!" everyone shouted in unison.

"Agreed. An excellent meeting, people. Next time, we’ll discuss ways to actually implement our plans. Meeting dismissed."

As the individuals drifted away from the ex-watcher’s apartement, many of their thoughts drifted towards the absent pair and wondered how they were doing in their search for the nonexistent demon.

"Spike, this is impossible!" Willow huffed, plopping down on the bed.

"I’m starting to think so too, luv. But at least we got an all expenses paid trip to San Diego out of the deal."

"I guess so. It’s just so frustrating! I’d swear this guy doesn’t even exist." Willow just stared at Spike for a moment before continuing. "Hey, Spike, what do you think the gang in Sunnydale is doing right now?"

"Can’t say I bloody care, pet. But I know what we’re doing right about now," he murmured, catching her lips in a bruising kiss.

"Mmmm," she moaned as she came up for air. "One of these days, Spike, we really should tell them about us." Willow started to say more, but the words were quickly forgotten as Spike began kissing her again and all rational thought fled her mind.
